To pay for college, I worked at a real estate consulting firm and learned the business from the ground up. My Mentor at the company told me that even though I had poor credit and no capital, I could still make money in the real estate business. I did not believe him at first, but was pleasantly surprised to find out that he was right. A lot has changed in the business over the past 25+ years, but one thing remains constant: real estate is a great way to create wealth!

So, with my Mentor’s help and training, I charged out and started making offers. It was tough at first and I was frustrated that many of the offers that I was submitting were not accepted. My Mentor told me to be patient and that the right deal would come along. I am so glad I listened to him. Looking back now, I was fortunate that my first few offers were not accepted, because it was a great time for me to see firsthand how the entire process worked. It also taught me the important lesson of finding the right property. Before long, I knew that real estate was going to be my future, so I dropped out of college to pursue it full time. That was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

After a few years in the business, I realized that I could be a lot more successful if I had better access to funding. I then got a job at a mortgage company to learn all of the secrets of that industry. In the early 1990s I left that company to start my own mortgage firm. That was another smart move. Over the last 20 years I have funded over $2 Billion in real estate transactions, and funding remains an integral part of my company.

Over the years, my experience and expertise grew. I have personally owned nearly $100 Million in real estate, and have been a partner or consultant on countless other transactions. I have done just about every type of deal you can think of. I’ve owned rental properties, multi-family units, commercial buildings, and raw land. I have built luxury homes that have sold for millions of dollars, and owned a trailer park where rents were just a couple hundred dollars. I have become an expert in just about every aspect of the real estate business. From demolition and construction to the complicated world of acquisition and development financing… I’ve done it all.
